Emily – I’m glad it worked out even though the beans were not husked. I should put up the picture of how the daal should look like before being cooked.

So I made the recipe, and it was delicious. However, the mung beans I bought were neither hulled, nor split; they had a green hull around the yellow part. So, they didn’t cook very well. Can’t wait to try it again, my Bengali friend said the salt and spices were just right. Thanks!
