Folk music nurtured through the ages by village-poets and rich in devotional mysticism and love-lore is very popular. The best known forms are Bhatiali, Baul, Marthti, Murshidi and Bhawaiya. Baul songs need particular mention due its popularity. Modern Bengali Music has blended Western and Middle-eastern traits with traditional forms.
