I would like to know what use has been made of the $140million given by the
IMF to Bangladesh to help in the cause of the flood disaster.As there is alot of corruption in Bangladesh, I am concened if the money is being recived by those who need it most. Also Ł20 million pouds was also donated by Great Britain. Surely the total that would be recevied would be enough to ease the pain of this flood diasaster. I am not however implying that Bangladesh should not get the help. Don't misunderstand my serious concerns.

I visited Bangladesh in 1991 and was in both Dhaka and Chittagong. I am a surgeon and worked at three different sites during my time there. I think it is a most beautiful country. I had the opportunity to purchase some incredible artwork while I was there. I am very interested in continuing to collect artwork, textiles, and pottery. Great job!! Stumbled on it by accident as I was searching for some Statutes on yahoo. They can wait - everything can wait!! Anyway, as a law student I happen to have a penchant for controversial topics and it was refreshing to see that for once such topics (when they came up on your site), generated mature and constructive responses. Of course, being 50% Chittagonian - of which I am very proud and being 50% Paki Punjabi - I would love to respond to some of the liberation commmentaries. We got the brunt from both sides but I wouldn't exchange a liberated Bangladesh for anything in this whole world. On second thoughts, may be for a Bar report card next year, which says I passed!! Thanks a lot for the site. I feel I am back home. Next time I am going to put on my "shootir sari", put some fake "bailey phuler mala" in my hair and really complete the experience!! By the way, I am one of those who strongly believes in preserving our cultural roots and heritage while we mingle and merge with the western world which also of course has its own flavor. If I had have known you were polling for Bangladeshi of the year I would have voted for Grameen Bank's Muhammad Yunus.

My wife and I travelled Bangladesh for 6 months and we were most impressed by the work of the Grameen Bank amongst the poorest people.

My vote would have made it a draw with the PM.

We would like more Bangla language material. Especially lessons, samples of spoken phrases that can be downloaded, and more dictionary words ~ Bangla words about Bangladeshi culture too!

We loved Bangladesh, and miss her. The Bangladeshi people we met were extraordinary, gentle, generous and courageous. We shall never forget and hope to return some time in the future.

One of my hobbies to learn to speak and write new languages. I am familiar with Bengali and was trying to learn Bengali from the lessons provided. They are very simple and easy to understand. But in the lesson 3 I found it difficult to follow what the [p], [f] etc meant. I could follow to a larger extent but would like it if you could make it clearer for any person new to the language also to understand.

First, let me commend you on an atractive and well designed site.

Secondly, I searched your site for "George Harrison". I had been at the concert and was curious if any credit was given to him for his relief efforts. The following was one of two results returned: Virtual Bangladesh : History : US Congress Records . However, when clicking to the hyperlink, the result was a totally blank, white page.

I logged onto this site somewhat accidentally and with great joy. I lived for two years in Khulna, and cried when I left. The country is breath-takingly beautiful, the people are strong and passionate, and a part of my heart remains there. Now I can connect with this wonderful land and its people on a regular basis. But....I did have a few problems, and they made me laugh with nostalgaic delight. Things don't always work the way you want them to the first time. I dearly wanted to hear the national anthem, but when I requested that option, I was unceremoniously shunted off the net. When I wished to inquire about the whereabouts of a beloved old friend, Hammad Ali, I was sent to a site in the U.S. which deals in scripts. It takes a while to get the bugs out of a new site, I know, and I wish you luck. And I'm thrilled to be able to go back, in spirit and via the Net, at least, to a wonderful land that takes up an important place in my heart. Bravo!

I liked everything apart from the "Bangladeshi of the Year' vote. Apperently, without any indication of starting date and closing date. Obviously, it is a very good idea. But such a poll where 178 (only) voters take part and all the leading personalities are at stake may not give a very good impression to many other people.(by the way, I am visiting this site on 22nd of April and the site was last updated on 26th of March.)
I hope, we all understand that web is an extreamly powerful media to manipulate.

First of all I would like to congratulate all of you, who have spent time to create this wabe site. I am really proud of you people. Believe me, for a long time I have been looking for a Bangladesh web site. Thanks God I have found one at last.

I have strong feeling now, that those Bangladeshis living abroad would not have to search for any kind of news paper. I think it would be easier for us to find a complete and comprehensive day to day news of Bangladesh.

I haven't seen the whole site yet but whatever I've seen it is marvelous. I hope many people like you would do something similar to let the world know about our existence. Some how this world doesn't seem to know about us' - one of the bravest nation and their people with a great deal of history. If it's possible please make a page on the British arrival and it started the colonized rule and the effect on Bangladesh. And one more thing there is a line missing from the begali part of the national anthem. The line is - Oma fagun e tor amer boner graney pagol korey.

I was looking for literature and finally found some wonderful poetry by typing "literature" into the search form. Art was much easier to find through the narrative tour. I finally found the "site tree" through clicking on the help icon. Maybe adding a
"site tree" or "site map" icon on the contents page would be a little clearer than the "help" icon. It is a very informative site and I love the essay on the fish. Actually I want to include my name in your Bangladeshi directory. I did HSC from Dhaka College in 1979, finished medical schooling from Sir Salimullah Medical College, Dhaka in 1985 came USA 1993- finishing residency in internal medicine June, 98 from St. Barnabas Hospital, NYC . I am going to work in Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center ( TX ) from June,98 .
