Transliteration Schema

We have devised a transliteration schema which should help you in pronouncing Bengali words. Please refer to the schema whenever weshow Bengali words using the Roman script.

Useful Words and Phrases

In order to give you a feel for the sounds of the Bengali language, I have set up a small collection of useful words and phrases. These words and phrases are illustrated by audio files which should help you in getting a feel for the sounds of the language.

Here's a very brief (3000 words) English to Bengali dictionary, that we maintain. It is no where near complete, and many entries do not have the corresponding Bengali word. We have tried to use the more colloquial from of Bengali whenever possible, for that is what most tourists to Bangladesh will face.
